We recognize that every student has unique interests, abilities, and potentials. Talk to a registrar if you would like to explore exceptions to our starting age guidelines.
CMC believes in the power of playing music together, and offers group classes for the very young through the teenage years. Tuition is reduced by 50% for students currently taking private lessons at CMC (see Tuition Assistance and Discounts). All classes are offered on a sliding scale, and our CMC Children’s Chorus and CMC Teen Jazz Orchestra are tuition-free. Enrollment information is at the bottom of each class description.

This award-winning, tuition-free program offers middle and high school students a comprehensive music education. Students are nominated for this scholarship by their public school teacher.

CMC Sparks is a new program that teaches youth beginning music and instrumental fundamentals in a fun group environment. The the step-by-step class design provides progressive opportunities to develop additional skills like learning to play with others in an ensemble, easing young musicians into more advanced playing.

CMC offers comprehensive music education opportunities for young people on Saturdays, with both theory and ensemble classes. Group classes explore theory, musicianship, and composition. Ensemble classes may play classical, jazz, Latin and other music forms in orchestra, chamber groups, combos and bands. Students taking these classes will study alongside students from CMC’s esteemed Young Musicians Program.
