The Gertrude Field Community Impact Award recognizes a community member who has provided outstanding leadership in music, service, and outreach, following in the footsteps of Community Music Center founder Gertrude Field.
Miss Field’s pioneering vision for a community center dedicated to providing music education for all regardless of financial circumstance has had a lasting impact on the Mission District and the larger Bay Area community. That vision, the Community Music Center, has served thousands of students since its founding in 1921, acting as a hub of creativity and community for everyone who walks through its doors.
The Gertrude Field Community Impact Award highlights the transformative work done by today’s visionary leaders and aims to inspire such vision in the next generation.
