(2024). Janis studied classical trumpet at the University of Southern California with Thomas Hooten, principal trumpet of the Los Angeles philharmonic. Has experience teaching trumpet sectionals and private piano and trumpet lessons. Enjoys working with all ages and all levels of experience.

Has had a diverse bay area musical education, including performances with the SF Boy’s Chorus, the CMC, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, Oakland’s Young Person Symphony Orchestra, the Kronos Quartet, and Young People’s Teen Musical Theater Company in venues such as Davies Symphony Hall, the SFJazz center, SF City Hall, and the Castro Theatre. Outside of music Janis enjoys riding his bicycle, surfing, birdwatching, gardening, and native habitat restoration.
