21V joins forces with the New Voices Bay Area Transgender, Intersex & Genderqueer Chorus and the Community Music Center in an affirming celebration of identity, joy, and resilience. This groundbreaking intergenerational concert also marks the launch of 21V’s pilot Transgender Youth Choir Project, inviting young trans voices into the vibrant music of 21st century music of the Americas.
Through music and storytelling, the program uplifts trans voices and experiences, featuring a world premiere by CMC Faculty Robin Estrada. Alongside works by Ted Hearne, Mari Esabel Valverde, and other bold composers from across the continent, the concert culminates in a powerful joint performance of Will the Circle Be Unbroken, the beloved Appalachia hymn reimagined as an affirmation of shared humanity.
