Opera Parallèle returns to the Presidio Theatre with the world premiere of a new chamber orchestra version of Doubt—a gripping story of suspicion, morality, and shifting power within a Catholic school.
Adapted from John Patrick Shanley’s Pulitzer Prize–winning play and Oscar-nominated film, this contemporary opera features an evocative score by Douglas J. Cuomo. Conceived and directed by Brian Staufenbiel and conducted by Nicole Paiement, the production centers on the psychological tension between four characters in an intimate, immersive setting. With a church-inspired design and the orchestra placed on stage, audiences become part of the “congregation,” fully drawn into the drama.
An intimate, multi-sensory experience that blurs the line between audience and action, Doubt will leave you questioning until the final note.
