Many scientific studies have shown that music education offers significant benefits for children’s development. Here are four reasons why your child will love our music offerings at CMC!
- Fun in Learning: CMC’s music classes are full of games and engaging activities that make learning to play an instrument exciting and enjoyable.
- Making New Friends: Weekly classes provide students with the opportunity to make new friends and learn to work together in groups, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Building Confidence: Playing music helps children build their self-esteem as they learn new skills and perform alongside their peers.
- Encouraging Creativity: Music inspires children to be creative and explore their imagination, while developing new tools to express themselves.
CMC Sparks Classes: Igniting a Lifelong Passion for Learning
Our Sparks program for younger children is designed to develop musical, social, and cognitive skills in a gentle and engaging way. CMC offers these beginner classes in violin, viola, string ensemble, guitar, and piano, allowing children to discover the joy of making music in a lively and supportive environment.
As a parent, I always try to give my children the best in education. When I asked my daughter Rachel what she wanted to play, I thought she might want to play the piano because her brother played the piano, or the guitar because I played a little when I was younger. But she said she wanted to play the violin. I thought it might be a challenge and she might get discouraged, but I said, “If that’s what you want, we’ll do it.” Erick Arroliga, father of Rachel (6 years old), talks about his daughter’s experience in a CMC Sparks class, which began in the fall quarter of 2023.
“The CMC Sparks Violin Class class took me by surprise, and it exceeded my expectations. I didn’t expect her to be so engaged. The teacher is very talented! I like the way he interacts with the children: he is very patient and the environment he creates is very engaging and encouraging for the kids.
Best of all, my daughter is having fun. It’s not just about standing still and holding or playing the violins. The teacher starts by playing a melody so they can hear what it sounds like and breaks it down to make it simple. He also gives them little breaks to release energy because they’re young.
My advice to other parents? Go see the class! The teachers are great with the kids!”
CMC Sparks classes are planned as an incredible and joyful journey for children. We recommend that students continue for at least three consecutive quarters (Levels I, II, and III) to develop their skills step by step. Each class is filled with interactive exercises, age-appropriate songs, and plenty of opportunities for children to play and sing together.
