Free Open House: Intro to Music for Kids
Looking for the perfect way to introduce your child to music? Join us at CMC for a free Open House, where young students ages 4–12 can explore in a fun and welcoming environment! Each session includes an overview of CMC and our programs, followed by short demo classes. Families will rotate through different classes, giving each child the chance to try them all!
This is a great chance to try out a class before our Fall Quarter begins. Meet teachers, ask questions, try out some different instruments and styles!
🎶 2:00–3:00pm – Demo Classes for Ages 4–7:
Younger students (accompanied by parent/caregiver) can enjoy a playful introduction to music, rotating between two 25-minute group sessions:
- Music for Children – Engaging exploration of musical concepts through song and movement.
- Intro to Piano – Hands-on fun with keyboards in our Piano Lab with Irene Giovanetti. (Piano classes are designed for children ages 5–7, however 4-year-olds are welcome to give piano a try, remain in Music for Children or leave a bit earlier.)
🎹 3:00–4:00pm – Demo Classes for Ages 8–12:
Older students can enjoy a hands-on introduction to popular instruments, rotating between 3 20-minute group sessions:
- CMC Sparks Mariachi Guitar – Learn guitar and singing in Mariachi style for beginners with teacher Nena Aldaz
- Intro to Guitar – Get strumming with guitar basics!
- Intro to Piano – Hands-on fun with keyboards in our Piano Lab

About CMC Sparks:
This program teaches beginning music and instrumental fundamentals in a fun, group environment. These sequential classes provide progressive opportunities to develop new skills, such as learning to play with others in an ensemble, easing young musicians into more advanced playing. Music for Children teaches young kids musical skills through rhythm games, singing, creative movement, dancing, musical play, and the use of instruments.
