Javier Santiago

(2019). Brubeck Institute Fellowship Program from 2007 to 2009; B.A. from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music December 2011 (New York, NY); Selected to participate in the Mentor Fellowship Program at Stanford Jazz Workshop (2016-2017).

Javier released several projects independently as well as two albums under the Ropeadope label: Phoenix (2018) and B-Sides: The Phoenix Sessions (2019). Participant in the 14th Annual Betty Carter Jazz Ahead (2011) intensive residency program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Schubert Club Jazz Piano Scholarship 1st place winner two years in a row (2006 and 2007). Finalist in 2015 American Jazz Pianist Competition. Javier is an accomplished educator, producer, arranger, composer and pianist. He uses concepts and approaches from both the African and European traditions.
