Program information for “El Son de la Misión” can be found here.

“El Son de la Misión: A Musical Journey from 1960–Present” features the work of Artistic Director, Lead Composer, and Arranger John Calloway, Co-Theatrical Director Script Writer and Lyricist Carlos Barón, and a talented cast of musicians and actors.

Commissioned and originally produced by Community Music Center in 2016, “El Son de la Misión” examines the history of the Mission District through music, featuring original songs that reflect pivotal social and artistic movements in the neighborhood’s past with artists of the present.

CMC dedicates this performance to the superb work of Carnaval SF who is raising money to distribute food and assistance to individuals and families impacted by the pandemic which has proven to have significantly more devastating consequences on the Latino community from both a health and economic point of view.
