Come to this free workshop and learn how to access the rich musical resources of the San Francisco Public Library!

In this presentation you will learn how to
1) Find and borrow music scores, books, and recordings
2) Use reference tools to find music scores in print and online
3) Use databases to find information about musical topics
4) Access streaming audio and video

SFPL’s Main Library holds more than 80,000 printed scores and 20,000 books about music, as well as digital databases, digitized scores, and streaming audio and video. A library card with SFPL gives you access to all this and more.

John Smalley holds an MPhil in Historical Musicology from Columbia University and an MLIS in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. He currently works as a Librarian at SFPL’s Chinatown Branch. Since 1987 he has worked as Concert Manager for the Community Music Center.
