Tango is about listening and moving as one in each other’s arms. Join award-winning Tango teacher Sonja Riket, as she helps you connect with yourself, your partners and the beautiful Tango music from the Golden Era (1930-50’s). This pre-beginner level workshop, based on the somatic approach to Tango, serves as an introduction to the follow-up quarterly Argentine Tango classes at CMC. No dance experience or partner necessary; barefoot or socks are fine for this workshop.

For: Anybody able to walk and interested in Tango music and dance: movement educators, therapists, health professionals.

Ages: Adults, older teens

Venezuelan Rhythms and Percussion
CMC Clinic with Omar Ledezma Jr.

Saturday, September 10, from 2:30 – 4:00pm

CMC Faculty member, Omar Ledezma will demonstrate rhythms, song styles and percussion instruments of Venezuela. Participants will learn about various Venezuelan rhythms including sangueo, gaita 6/8, tamborera, calypso, quitiplás, and tambores de costa.
This lecture-demonstration is open to anyone interested in learning more about Venezuelan and Afro-Latin rhythms.
