Alexx Hinkle

(2016) Alexx Hinkle is an active violinist in the San Francisco Bay Area, performing regularly with local ensembles. He received his B.M from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied violin with Bettina Mussumeli. During his studies at the conservatory he was selected to participate in orchestral masterclasses with Sir Simon Rattle, Alasdair Neale, Michael Morgan, and Donato Cabrera. He has participated in notable summer festivals such as The Brevard Institute where he studied violin with Josefina Vergara and received quartet coachings from Margaret Karp. He has held the position of Assistant Concertmaster with the Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra since 2010, the same year he was also featured as a soloist with the Orchestra. From 2010-2014 he coached the 1st violin and viola sections of the Sunset Youth Orchestra, helping to prepare the group for a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He was appointed principal 2nd violin in the 2012 Stanford Summer Orchestra festival, under the baton of Martin West, principal conductor of the S.F. Ballet.

In 2013 Alexx was appointed Concertmaster for the Opera Academy of California’s summer productions of Il Giasone, conducted by Jun Nakabayashi and L e no zze di Figaro, conducted by Maestro Niels Muus. The same year, he was appointed Concertmaster of The Prometheus Symphony Orchestra, where this season he will perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto. In the fall of 2014 he began to play assistant principal 2nd violin with the Russian Chamber Orchestra. In college he performed regularly as a violinist in the Magik*Magik Orchestra where he performed with artists such as Sting, The Fifth Dimension, and local artists such as the Tin Hat Trio, Carla Kihlstedt, and The Dodos. His chamber music studies were under the guidance of members of the Arianna Quartet, Dr. Lenora Anop, Maria Lambros, Margaret Karp, and Aenea Mizushima Keyes.
