(2006) Poppea Dorsam is a faculty member of University of San Francisco, Holy Names University Preparatory Department, San Francisco Community Music Center and Piedmont Unified School District (Cello Clinician) and runs a private studio in Piedmont CA. Summers, she teaches at the Crowden camp “All Things Cello”. Dorsam received the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from Boston University where she studied with Michael Reynolds and George Neikrug and was a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Undergraduate studies were completed at Oberlin Conservatory under Andor Toth Jr. Dorsam has performed internationally in Germany, Austria and Australia and throughout the United States.
She is a member of the Sacramento Philharmonic and has performed with most Bay Area orchestras including Fresno and Women’s Philharmonic, San Jose, Napa, Monterey, Santa Rosa and Oakland East Bay Symphonies, Pacific Chamber Symphony, Lamplighter’s, Pocket Opera and Opera Cinnabar. As a chamber musician, Dorsam founded, managed and performed in the Liberty Street Trio, Clover Heights Ensemble, Fogtown Four Cello Quartet (recorded on Stillwater Sound label), Anne and Poppea Ensemble and Trio Dorado. She has participated in music festivals in Austria, and in the US at Kent Blossom, Apple Hill, Tahoe and Warebrook.
