“What’s Going On” – from Blues to Doo-Wop to Jazz
with Maestro Curtis Lecture/Demo (Part 1)
What’s Going On – CMC Faculty member, Maestro Curtis (Grammy nominee, author of best-selling book the Art of Producing, protégé of Earth Wind and Fire’s Maurice White), analyzes this classic Marvin Gaye song – looking at its doo-wop origins – and exploring how one can take a simple chord progression and vary harmony and melody through various permutations. A fun workshop on the art of song structure, composition and arrangement.

Reconstruct a Doo-Wop song based on the ideas from Part 1 workshop. Reconstructed songs will be played during the workshop.

Four-Hand Piano Workshop with Juliet McComas
